Fix Outlook Errors

Some common solution for resolving Outlook error

Disable virus scanner integration.

Sometime a virus Scanner Integration can also cause problem in sending/receiving emails. For instant following time out issues are often a result of this:
  • Operation timed out waiting for a response from receiving (POP) server
  • Time out occurred while communicating with server
Other issues that often caused by having virus scanner integrated with Outlook are:
  • Outlook being slow in collecting mails
  • Message ending up stuck in Outlook
  • Message being sent but not received
  • Receiving or sending blank messages
  • General message corruption
Disabling virus scanner integration with Outlook not compromise security of your database as you still sufficiently protected by on-scanner part of virus scanner.

Check your firewall setting

Firewall can block outgoing and incoming traffic so make sure that Outlook or required port for email listed an exception to go through.
If receive/send errors occur after updating your Outlook, than probably you need to reconfigure firewall to re-allow Outlook to pass through again. This is because various firewall solutions verify via hash that it is indeed correct outlook.exe that is trying to pass through firewall and not some virus named itself outlook.exe. Since outlook.exe gets updated with some updates as well, you will need to accept it as safe again. For more info try the manual of firewall solution.

Issues with add-ins

Integrating new add-ins with Outlook can also cause problem in sending and receiving process. To further troubleshoot such add-in manually disables each of them and re- enable each of them one by one to find problematic one.

Check email account setting

If after configuring an account you get a receive/send error, then you should start with verifying your account setting is correct or not, you get this detail from email administrator or ISP.
When you try to send message from another network than network were mailbox is located is need to be enable authentication for configured SMTP server as well.
If Outlook suddenly start showing an receive/send errors, than still it’s a good practice to recheck or verify your account setting and make sure that they are current.
Trying account setting of yours on another computer or creating an additional mail profile for testing could help in determining if it is an issue with current setting of configured account.

Check data store integrity

If there are problem with deliver location then this could conclude in receive/send issues. You can check the integrity of delivery location with the help of scanpst.exe. In some claim you need to run pst2gb tool when data store is full.

Stuck message or hidden read receipt

Stuck message also cause problem in receiving and sending mails. While it is simple to spot stuck message in Outlook, in some cases stuck message can be read receipt which are hidden messages and much harder to recognize the issue and too delete.

And if after following all the above methods the Outlook Error don’t get fix and database get corrupted than switch to a effective solution like Outlook PST Recovery
